You agree the price and transfer
Agree with the buyer how the balance is paid. The safe order is to have the full payment cleared in your account before you sign the Department of Land Transport transfer forms; the office then records the buyer as the new owner.

Documents for the transfer
- The car's registration book (the blue book), in your name
- Your Thai ID card, or your passport if you are a foreigner
- For a foreign seller or buyer: a certificate of residence from Immigration or an embassy, or a work permit
- A power of attorney, with a copy of your ID or passport, if someone attends the transfer for you
- Proof that any car finance is paid off, if the car was bought on finance
Getting a quicker sale
Price against similar cars listed for sale in Thailand, and say clearly if the price is negotiable. Clean the car before the photos, and include the service book and spare key if you have them. Buyers trust a car more when the registration book is in the seller's name and there is no outstanding finance; a car under a finance contract cannot be transferred until it is paid off. If you are leaving Thailand, give yourself time for the transfer at the Department of Land Transport before your flight. Each office can ask for slightly different papers, so check its current list before you go.

What does it cost to list my car?
Buyers pay nothing, and the seller pays our commission. We explain the terms for your car when you send us its details.
How long does a sale take?
It depends on the car and the price. Cars priced in line with the market and listed with good photos get enquiries sooner.
I am leaving Thailand soon. Can you still help?
Tell us your departure date when you send the details. The transfer at the Department of Land Transport needs the seller or a representative with the right documents, so plan it before you leave.
What documents do I need to transfer my car?
Usually the car's registration book in your name and your Thai ID card or passport. Foreign sellers and buyers are usually asked for a certificate of residence or a work permit, and anyone attending for you needs a power of attorney. Check the current list with the Department of Land Transport office before you go.
When should I sign the transfer forms?
Only after the full payment has cleared in your account. Agree with the buyer beforehand how the balance is paid, then sign the Department of Land Transport forms together at the office.
